JAKARTA - The name of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, is being championed by millennials in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Referring to the results of the Indonesian Political Indicators survey institute, Anies is in the first position as a presidential candidate who is expected to attract the most public votes with a percentage of 15.2 percent.

Meanwhile, in the second and third positions there are Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil.

"The 17 highest absolute names are Anies Baswedan at 15.2 percent, Ganjar 13.7 percent, Ridwan Kamil 10.2 percent, the difference is insignificant," said Executive Director of Indonesian Political Indicators Burhanuddin Muhtadi in an online survey release, Sunday, March 21, 2021.

Followed by Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno 9.8 percent, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto 9.5 percent, and there is the name Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) at 4.1 percent.

If in 3 years Anies's electability as a presidential candidate strengthens, then which political party will take the governor to the Palace?

Which Political Party Did Anies Take?

If Anies intends to run as a presidential candidate, of course the main conditions that must be met are the support of political parties and the number of seats in the DPR with certain criteria.

Judging from the history of the DKI Pilkada, of course the two parties namely PKS and Gerindra are attached to Anies. However, lately NasDem has also started flirting with the former minister of education and culture.

"Anies Baswedan, is one of the people who entered the NasDem Party's radar to become a presidential candidate," said political observer Andriadi Achmad to VOI, Friday, March 26.

According to Andriadi, this potential was because two years ago before the 2019 Presidential Election, Anies Baswedan had a meeting between Anies Baswedan and NasDem Chairman Surya Paloh at the DPP office of the NasDem Party, Menteng, Central Jakarta. The news is circulating, both of them are talking about the 2024 General Election.

Meanwhile, PKS has historically been close to Anies for a long time. In fact, former PKS President Sohibul Iman has a close relationship with Anies because both of them were rectors of Paramadina University.

"Then the Jakarta Pilkada which supports PKS and Gerindra. PKS has an opportunity but is not sufficient, only 8 percent, it takes about 12 percent to reach 20 percent as a (requirement) for candidacy," explained the Executive Director of the Political Communication Studies and Research Center (PolCom SRC).

Because the results of NasDem and PKS if carrying singles are insufficient, Andriadi assessed that the two of them could form a coalition to bring Anies to be the 2024 Presidential Candidate.

"NasDem is also not enough, it could be a coalition, it could side by side to nominate Anies. But Anies' electability must skyrocket," said Andriadi.

Apart from the two political parties, according to him, Gerindra also has the opportunity to carry Anies. If, Prabowo Subianto does not return to run for the 2024 presidential election.

"Yesterday, the indications were still trying again (the third time. Ed). With Gerindra, Prabowo projected (Anies.red) to become cawapres. Only many regretted that this happened because Anies Baswedan was no longer in his class as cawapres, but became a presidential candidate," he explained. Andriadi.

Anies Among NasDem, PKS and Gerindra

Political parties began to speak up in response to Anies Baswedan's survey results, which were superior as candidates for the presidential candidate. In particular, the political parties that were predicted to be the vehicle for the man who was born on May 7, 1969.

The chairman of the DPP NasDem Party, Willy Aditya, considers that the survey results compiled from millennials are reasonable.

"They have their own choices. As for the name Anies that appears, that can also be understood. The nature of thinking of young people aged 17-22 years is still not too complex," Willy said, Monday, March 22.

According to him, the style and character of a person are still the main measures of election. Likewise, the frequency appears and is discussed in the media.

"The top three are all governors. This shows the inherent character factor of those who serve as regional heads," said the member of Commission XI of the DPR.

In line with Willy, the Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta Gerindra DPD, Ahmad Riza Patria, assessed that surveys that have presented high electability figures for the 2024 Presidential Election are still too premature.

"It's 2021, March. Too much, too far, too early, too fast, too premature if we talk about the presidential election," said Riza, who is also Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, when met at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Tuesday, March 23. .

Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary General of the DPP Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Ahmad Fathul Bari said there were more complex considerations regarding 2024.

He explained, there are aspirations of party structures and members, aspirations of various elements of society, and most importantly the consideration of the progress of the nation and state that needs to be fully considered.

"Until now, PKS is still discussing the matter, although the aspirations that are growing in PKS internal circles also want PKS cadres or figures to advance as candidates for president or cawapres in 2024," said Ahmad Fathul Bari, Thursday, March 25.

Prabowo-Anies or Anies-Sandi?

Previously, the Gerindra Party internally proposed Prabowo Subianto and Anies Baswedan to become presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election.

The discourse of pairing Prabowo with Anies was raised by the chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP Desmond Mahesa.

"In my opinion, Prabowo is the best president, Anies is the vice president," said Desmond, Monday, March 22.

Responding to this, the Chairperson of the PKS DPP Mardani Ali Sera regretted that Anies was only a vice president.

"Mas Anies is a pity if he is only running mate," Mardani told reporters, Tuesday, March 23.

Mardani assessed that there is still a long time for Anies to prove that he is worthy of being a contestant in the Presidential Election. However, he also considered it reasonable if there was a discourse about pairing Prabowo with Anies.

"But to move forward the presidential candidate needs a coalition with many parties. Pak Prabowo and Mas Anies can be categorized into one family," he said.

However, if Prabowo-Anies fails to be juxtaposed, will DKI repeat by pairing Anies-Sandi?

"If Prabowo-Anies does not enter, it could be Anies-Sandi. Sandiaga is indeed a Gerindra cadre, the possibility exists. In fact, it could also be an alternative for the Indonesian people," said political observer Andriadi Achmad to VOI, Friday, March 26.

The Executive Director of the Political Communication Studies and Research Center (PolCom SRC) assesses that if Anies is juxtaposed with Sandiaga, it is not impossible that he will win again like the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada. Moreover, both of them already have good leadership capital.

"Anies Bswedan already has a track record of the governor, Sandiaga has become a minister. If we look at the map, Sandiaga represents an eastern person from Gorontalo, while Anies represents Java," said Andriadi.

"Then if from a political map, ethnic groups also enter even though Anies is crossbreed between Javanese and Arabic, I think it is possible. In fact, I see it has the potential to repeat DKI," he added.

However, the Anies-Sandi coalition, according to Andriadi, could only be realized if Prabowo did not run as a presidential candidate. This is because Prabowo has already used Sandiaga's vehicle. Except, Sandi left the party bearing the Garuda logo and sought support from other political parties.

"If I see there is a possibility of the coalition (Anies-Sandi), but if Prabowo does not progress. But if he goes forward, Anies will be supported by who ?," he said.
