The Barelang Police, Riau Islands, are currently investigating the alleged beating of two members of the Sei Beduk Police by Babinsa Lubukbaja.

Kasatreskrim Polresta Barelang AKP Giadi Nugraha said his party received a public report related to the incident.

"A police report has been received from civilians regarding allegations of abuse or beatings that occurred in the jurisdiction of the Sei Beduk Police," Giadi said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 19.

The police have asked for information from two witnesses who knew about the incident and secured evidence in the form of CCTV footage.

"The steps that have been taken have been examined by two witnesses, then the police have secured DVR from CCTV," he said.

The case of the beating is still ongoing. His party coordinated with the TNI Denpom in Batam regarding the alleged involvement of other members.

In addition to one member of Babinsa Lubukbaja who has been secured by Denpom Batam, three people who were dressed in civilian clothes who took part in the incident are still under police investigation whether they are civilians or TNI personnel.

"The status of the other three people is still under investigation. We are still coordinating with the Denpom and waiting for the results," said Giadi.

Giadi said that in handling this case, the party still prioritized the synergy and solidity of the TNI-Polri as directed by the leaders of the two institutions.

Separately, the Military District Commander (Dandim) 0316/Batam Lt. Col. Inf. Rooy Chandra Sihombing when confirmed regarding the progress of handling the beating case has not provided an answer.

Previously, Rooy stated that the Babinsa with the initials HP who beat the police officers was immediately sought after and detained in the special Denpom cell, for military legal proceedings.
