JAKARTA - Chairman of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Cendrawasih University, Salmon Wantik along with dozens of other students admitted that they would continue to oversee the alleged crime of money laundering (TPPU) which dragged the name of the Acting Regent of Mimika.

Salmon also ensured that his party fully supports the Papua Prosecutor's Office to resolve this case.

"The Papuan Prosecutor's Office is not alone, we students agree to fully support the eradication of crimes such as corruption," Salmon said in a statement received on Monday afternoon, August 12.

Not only that, young people who are members of the Papua Anti-Corruption Society Alliance (AMPAK) also take the same action in front of the Papua High Prosecutor's Office. They were furious because the case did not work.

In their action, the AMPAK youth group also carried a large banner and wreath for the failure of the Papua Prosecutor's Office in handling the case.

AMPAK Coordinator Alfred Pabika said all evidence of the alleged money laundering offense that dragged the name of Johanes Retroop as the Acting Regent of Mimika was complete.

"We are taking this action so that the Papuan high prosecutor's office, especially serious investigators, can handle money laundering cases," said Alfred.

Assistant for Intelligence at the Papua High Prosecutor's Office, Erwin Purba, said that the alleged money laundering case that dragged Johanes Retroop as Acting Regent of Mimika had been decided by the corruption court. According to Erwin, the case is still ongoing and is currently still ongoing in the cassation process.

"We will continue to handle this money laundering offense case. Regarding the handling, of course, we will encourage the pidsus investigation team to be followed up immediately," he said.
