JAKARTA - DY alias Koyo (23) and AM (30), two recidivist cases of theft were arrested by the Tambora Police Criminal Investigation Unit after committing a motorcycle theft in the Tambora area, West Jakarta.

Tambora Police Chief Kompol Donny Agung Harvida said the two perpetrators were recurrence criminals who had carried out motorbike theft dozens of times.

The incident began when two victims named Waidah (45) and Muslihun (31) reported the theft of a motorbike to the Tambora Police.

"The incident started when the victim was about to go to the shop using a motorbike, but when he was about to use his motorbike, he was gone. The victim reported it to the Tambora Police," said Kompol Donny when confirmed, Monday, August 12.

After receiving the report, the Tambora Police Criminal Investigation Unit immediately conducted an investigation. Then, after pursuing it, members of the Tambora Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to arrest suspect DY alias Koyo (23) at his home on Jalan Pekapuran Raya, Tanah Sereal, Tambora District.

"This recidivist suspect has carried out his actions 15 times in the Tambora area. The perpetrators of DY alias Koyo are recidivists who have been convicted in the cases of Article 365 of the Criminal Code in 2021 and 2022," he said.

In the action, the two suspects DY alias Koyo and AN targeted motorbikes parked in narrow alleys with minimal security. The perpetrators also often act using fake keys and targeting motorbikes with slightly damaged keys.

"The perpetrator's target is to carry out theft at Krendang, Jembatan Besi, Tambora, and Tanah Sereal," he said.

During this arrest, the police managed to confiscate four motorbikes from the hands of the perpetrators. The police are also still developing the case. The suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison.
