Follow Airlangga Hartarto, Jusuf Hamka Also Withdraws From The Golkar Party

JAKARTA - Golkar Party Advisory Board member Jusuf Hamka or Babah Alun said that he resigned from the management of the Golkar Party to the nomination of regional heads in the 2024 Pilkada.

"That's right, that's right," said Babah Alun when contacted from Jakarta, Sunday.

It was revealed that his resignation had not been informed to the party. However, on Monday (12/8) he will officially submit a letter of resignation to the Golkar Party DPP.

"Yes, I will meet the Secretary General. I will submit the documents. So, I will return my candidacy in Jakarta, I will return it in West Java. In fact, my survey results are good, under Kang Emil (former Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil)," he said, quoted by Antara.

Babah Alun said that his resignation was because according to him politics was too harsh and rude.

"It's inappropriate for my character, inappropriate, and I see with Airlangga stepping down this is a momentum because Airlangga is backing down there must be one big reason, which we don't know. However, for me, yes I quite know and I quite understand, I don't want to be rude and I don't want to play hard," he explained.

However, he denied that the momentum for his resignation was due to Airlangga's resignation as General Chair of the Golkar Party.

"My momentum is at the same time. However, if the intention is to withdraw, it will start from last July, but it's just the momentum," he said.

Furthermore, he will focus on social workers by building mosques according to the advice of his wife, son and son-in-law.

"We will soon have a grandson, this September. So, then we can't go abroad later if we become public officials," he explained.
