Jokowi Will Replace Airlangga Hartarto As Chairman Of The Golkar Party?

JAKARTA In the midst of the news of Airlangga Hartarto's resignation as chairman of the Golkar Party on Saturday, August 10, 2024, there was a lot of speculation about the person who would replace him. The names circulating began with Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita (Waketum of the Golkar Party), Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to President Joko Widodo.

Speculation is likely that Jokowi will replace Airlangga obtained from e-flyers circulating on various social media platforms. One of them is an e-flyer entitled: The Golkar National Conference Scheme in May 2024 to Win the 2024 Indonesiasis All Regional Head Elections.

In the digital poster, Jokowi is placed in the position of chairman of the Golkar Party. Below him is Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tanjung as Secretary General, and Bahlil Lahadalia as General Bedahara.

The signal that Jokowi will lead a well-established and large political party has emerged since late May. One of them came out of the mouth of the General Treasurer of Pro Jokowi Volunteers (Projo), Panel Barus on 31 May.

"With Pak Jokowi leading a political party, it is certain that the political party led by Pak Jokowi will secure, fully guard, the elected government of Prabowo-Gibran," said the panel at the Projo DPP Office, Pancoran, South Jakarta on Friday, May 31, 2024.

The panel did not answer which political parties Jokowi would lead. However, he gave a clue, not a party that has been identical or against the 7th President of Indonesia.

"It's impossible for PDIP, it's impossible for PKS," said the Panel again.

Since relations with PDIP worsened, Jokowi has indeed been offered entry to the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). However, Jokowi always refused, saying he wanted to return to Solo after completing his position in October 2024.
