Agung Laksono on Airlangga's Resignation from Golkar Chairmanship: I Have Heard

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Golkar Party's Expert Council, Agung Laksono, admitted that he was aware of the news of Airlangga Hartarto's resignation from the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP.

"Yes, I have heard, I am still hearing other information," said Chairman of the Expert Council of the Golkar Party DPP Agung Laksono to reporters, Sunday, August 11.

Based on the official video circulating, Airlangga resigned from the position of General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP starting Saturday, August 10.

Airlangga said the decision to resign from the position of chairman of the Golkar Party was taken after considering and to maintain the integrity of the Golkar Party in order to ensure the stability of the transitional government that will occur in the near future.

"So by saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, as well as on the instructions of God Almighty, I hereby declare my resignation as General Chair of the Golkar Party DPP. This resignation is calculated since last night, namely Saturday, August 10, 2024," Airlangga said in the video.

Furthermore, Airlangga also said that after his resignation, the Golkar Party would prepare an organizational mechanism in accordance with the provisions of the AD/ART.

"All of these processes will be carried out peacefully, orderly, and by upholding the dignity of the Golkar Party," he explained.

Airlangga also did not forget to thank President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin. Including Elected President Prabowo Subianto and Elected Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"To the Golkar seniors, especially Mr. Jusuf Kalla, Mr. Aburizal Bakrie, Mr. Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Mr. Akbar Tanjung, Mr. Agung Laksono and Mr. Muhamad Hatta, I also thank you for the cooperation, support, and guidance given to us," he said.

Airlangga also reminded the management of the Golkar Party DPP, as well as all of our party leaders at the provincial, city and district levels, to be able to continue to maintain the solidity and continuity of the Golkar Party.

"Especially for Golkar Party cadres and sympathizers, I urge them to continue to care for our party with enthusiasm and optimism. I am sure that the Golkar Party will continue to move forward and make a positive contribution to our beloved country," he said.
