Anies Still Has The Opportunity To Run For The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election If One Of The Political Parties Of The Change Coalition Joins PDIP

JAKARTA - Anies Baswedan is threatened with failing to run for governor in the Jakarta Pilkada after the PKS, PKB and NasDem are rumored to be joining the Forward Indonesia Coalition (KIM) to support Ridwan Kamil. However, Anies still has the opportunity if one of the political parties members of the Change Coalition cooperates with the PDIP. "But if Nasdem, PKB, and PKS all join KIM, then it is closed for Anies to advance," he continued. As is known, to nominate the governor of DKI Jakarta, parties or coalition parties need at least 22 seats in the DKI Jakarta DPRD. This refers to Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning the Election of Governors, Regents, and Mayors

Based on Article 40 of the Pilkada Law, new pairs of candidates for regional heads can be registered with the General Elections Commission (KPU) if they have the support of 20 percent of DPRD seats or 25 percent of the votes from the last election results.

While the Jakarta DPRD seat acquisition in the 2024 Legislative Election, PKS won 18 seats, 15 PDIP seats, 11 NasDem (11 seats), and 10 PKB seats.

"The PDIP rate is not enough to carry the cagub pair in Jakarta. Even if PPP and Perindo are added, it is not sufficient," said Jamiluddin.
