Cases Of Child Abuse In Bulungan Increase

TANJUNG SELOR - Bulungan Police Chief, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Kombes Agus Nugraha, said cases of sexual abuse of minors in Bulungan increased.

"Of the cases we handle at Polresta, most of them are cases of sexual abuse or violence against minors," said Kombes Agus, Friday, July 26.

The police chief explained that from reports of violations of the child protection law, the perpetrators in this obscenity case were known to the victim or as the closest person to the victim such as his parents, neighbors, and girlfriends who met the victim almost every day.

"There are also underage perpetrators, related to the data, they can be checked. The phenomenon of this case occurs almost every month, someone reports this case," he said.

Factors that cause this obscenity case can be caused by promiscuity and lack of parental supervision of children.

"There are many factors that cause it and this requires special attention by involving stakeholders or related agencies in Bulungan, including parents and parties who oversee the local environment," he said.

He emphasized that the settlement of this case would not implement restorative justice or Restorative Justice (RJ) which led to peace.

"Kasus-kasus kekerasan atau pelecehan seksual terhadap anak ini tidak bisa diselesaikan secara Restorative Justice (RJ), tindak pidananya tetap kita tindak sesuai hukum yang berlaku," tegasnya.

"If a minor commits a crime or other crime such as theft, it can be assisted by RJ or Diversion, which is resolved through mediation or dialogue or deliberation. But when it comes to sexual abuse of minors, the punishment law will continue," he concluded.
