Officially Announces Anies Becomes Cagub DKI Jakarta, NasDem Frees Search For Cawagub

JAKARTA - The NasDem Party officially announced the nomination to Anies Baswedan to become a candidate for the Governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 Pilkada. This was decided by the General Chairperson of NasDem Surya Paloh after holding a meeting with Anies.

"This afternoon we have made a determination to agree on the DKI regional election. Pak Surya Paloh, who chaired the meeting, immediately appointed Mr. Anies Baswedan as a candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta from the NasDem Party," said Secretary General of the NasDem Party Hermawi Taslim in NasDem Tower, Central Jakarta, Monday, July 22.

Hermawi revealed that NasDem chose Anies to be carried in the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election after previously capturing three names. Apart from Anies, the names that had been proposed were the General Treasurer of NasDem Ahmad Sahroni and the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta NasDem DPD Wibi Andrino.

However, NasDem has not yet issued an official suspension recommendation letter to Anies to run for the DKI Jakarta Pilkada because he does not yet have a candidate pair for deputy governor.

NasDem also gave Anies the freedom to find his own companion. Even NasDem did not recommend Anies to choose the cawagub from NasDem cadres himself.

"Pak Anies was also given complete freedom to determine who his deputy was on one condition that the representative should not be from the NasDem Party," explained Hermawi.

Hermawi continued, the search for the cawagub became Anies' homework so that he could get a suspension decree from NasDem before the registration period for regional head candidates.

"As soon as August 22, 2024, but it could be faster if Mr. Anies could finish his homework within three days. That means the 25th and so on," said Hermawi.

Continuing, Anies admitted that he would immediately carry out the tasks given by NasDem. The former governor of DKI Jakarta will communicate with political parties who want to carry him out to find an agreement on who will be paired with him.

"I want to convey to all of these mandates, including the task of arranging a couple that God willing, will be discussed together. We hope that we will be able to work together with more other parties," explained Anies.
