3 Bali Kerobokan Prison Prisoners Arrested In Case Of Methamphetamine Smuggling

DENPASAR - Class II A Penitentiary Officer Kerobokan in Badung Regency, Bali, arrested three inmates on suspicion of being involved in the circulation of methamphetamine drugs controlled from prison.

"This operation began with the arrest of a woman with the initials V by investigators from the Bali Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate," said Head of Kerobokan Prison RM Kristyo Nugroho, Thursday, July 18.

The information from the Bali Police was then developed by the Kerobokan Prison because the drugs were handed over by V to a companion prisoner with the initials PSP.

The woman smuggled drugs into the Kerobokan Prison by hiding in the food package. This package is handed over to the tapang who works as a page janitor on a daily basis.

Kalapas said that his party then checked the PSP to explore the flow of drugs.

From PSP's confession, the drugs were handed over to two inmates with the initials PND and AAW who lived in the Yudistira Block in Bali's largest prison.

Prison officers then searched the two. Found five packages of suspected methamphetamine that had been wrapped in clear plastic into five packages and a cell phone unit.

However, his party did not provide details regarding the amount of methamphetamine.

"Regarding the amount of evidence suspected of methamphetamine, we cannot confirm it because it is still under investigation," he said.

After examining the three inmates, the Kerobokan Prison then transferred them to an isolation cell to separate them from other detainees and at the same time cut off communication with networks outside the prison.

The findings of the drug package, he said, were handed over as evidence to the police.

Regarding these findings, his party promised to make improvements and increase the examination of the parties entering the prison.

"As a form of early detection effort, we have also conducted searches in residential rooms, both routinely and incidentally," he added.
