Still Approaching NasDem-PDIP Even Though 7 Political Parties Have Been Carried, Khofifah Wants The East Java Gubernatorial Election To Form Reconciliation After The Presidential Election

JAKARTA - The candidate for Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, admitted that he was still approaching the NasDem Party and the PDI-P (PDIP) to ask for his support in the 2024 East Java gubernatorial and deputy governorial elections (Pilgub).

Meanwhile, currently Khofifah and her cawagub partner, Emil Dardak, have received recommendations for the appointment of 7 political parties. Khofifah-Emil's support has also crossed the threshold for nominating regional heads with a minimum of 20 percent of seats in the East Java DPRD.

"We are building as much communication (with NasDem) as possible. With the chairman (Regional Leadership Council) of the East Java PDIP, Pak Said (Abdullah) we also communicate," said Khofifah at the PKS DPP office, South Jakarta, Thursday, July 18.

Khofifah admitted that there were other reasons regarding her still opening communication regarding her candidacy with the two political parties who had not yet made a decision on the suspension in the East Java Pilkada.

The former Governor of East Java hopes that the majority support of political parties for him and Emil in the regional elections can be seen as national reconciliation after the 2024 presidential election which was divided into 3 coalitions of political parties.

"On several occasions I conveyed, I hope that East Java can provide references to national reconciliation because building East Java means building a archipelago. Building East Java means strengthening Bhinneka Tunggal Ika," said Khofifah.

Today, PKS officially gave a proposal to Khofifah-Emil. They have now been promoted by 7 political parties to run again in the 2024 Pilkada, namely Gerindra, Golkar, Democrats, PAN, PPP, PSI and PKS. One non-parliamentary political party of the East Java DPRD, namely Perindo, also provided support.

In total, this incumbent pair has received a suspension of 62 seats in the East Java DPRD from the seven political parties. This number is more than sufficient to meet the 20 percent nomination threshold or 24 seats in the East Java Pilkada. "Hopefully the victory will be getting closer. Of course, thanks to God's help, due to the synergy between all the supporting parties and their cadres, it will become a power that God willing, will open a path for the ease of victory by the SWT in the upcoming election for governor and deputy governor on November 27," said Khofifah after receiving the recommendation.

The number of political parties that have stated their support, Khofifah admitted that she and Emil are ready to work harder in order to win the 2024 Pilkada contestation in East Java.

"Hopefully this strength will become more and more in line with us, more motivated, more enthusiastic to work hard to of course, we hope that God willing, to deliver our victory as Governor and Deputy Governor of East Java," said Khofifah.
