Gibran Immediately Moves Domicile to Jakarta: Jan Ethes Will Go to School Tomorrow

JAKARTA - The elected vice president (wapres), Gibran Rakabuming Raka, revealed that he would immediately move his domicile from Solo City to Jakarta because his two children had to go to school. Gibran will officially be inaugurated as vice president on October 20, 2024.

"After being inaugurated, it looks like we have to move our domicile to Jakarta," he told the media crew, Tuesday 16 July.

The eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said he did not move alone to Jakarta, but also together with his wife, Selvi Ananda and also his two children, Jan Ethes Srinarendra and La Lembah Manah. Gibran even said that his children had registered for school in Jakarta.

"When I went to Jakarta, my child didn't stay (I left my child in Solo in Jakarta). The children have also moved to school in Jakarta, tomorrow (Wednesday) they will go to Jakarta, they are already going to (school)," said Gibran.

It is known that all this time his two children studied at a private school in the city of Solo, Focus Independent School. Meanwhile, when asked about his two children's schools in Jakarta, Gibran was reluctant to give an answer.

"Cedak omah (near home in Jakarta)," answered Gibran when asked about his two children's new school.

With his move to become a resident and changing his Jakarta ID card, Gibran said that it is likely that on voting day for the 2024 regional elections in November he will have voted in Jakarta and no longer in the city of Solo like in the last election.

"Yes, if it's a Jakarta ID card, automatically vote in Jakarta," he said.

Gibran admitted that he already has a house in Jakarta to live in with his family, so it is possible that while he is vice president he will not live in the official residence. According to him, this would be more comfortable for his two small children.

"Yes, it's the same as when I was mayor (Solo) yesterday, right? I didn't live in Loji Gandrung (official residence). There (the official residence) is empty and can be used for community activities. It's more comfortable in our own house, even though it's small," he said.
