Reviewing Drive Thru Vaccination In Bogor, Jokowi: This Model Can Be Done Elsewhere

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) directly reviewed the COVID-19 vaccination activity which was held en masse with the drive thru system in Bogor City, West Java.

Judging from the Presidential Secretariat YouTube, President Jokowi appears to be accompanied by Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil or commonly called Kang Emil, and Bogor Mayor Bima Arya.

From the broadcast, President Jokowi and his entourage also appear to greet the recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine who are elderly people and a number of public workers, including online motorcycle taxi drivers.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta also occasionally chats with the vaccinator who is in charge of the drive-thru vaccination service.

After monitoring, President Jokowi said the mass vaccination event was running smoothly. All processes from screening to injection have been carried out well and smoothly.

"Everything went well, starting from the registration process, registration, health screening, then vaccines, everything went well," Jokowi said as quoted from the video uploaded on YouTube, Friday, March 19.

He hopes that the drive through vaccination system can be replicated in other regions.

"This model can be done in other places to accelerate the delivery of vaccines in the country," he said.

It is known that the number of recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine as of Thursday, March 18 had reached 4,838,752 people. This number increased by 133,504 from the previous day.

The national COVID-19 vaccination program is targeted to receive 181.5 million people. The recipients are people aged 18 years and over and will be given two injections.

The vaccine administration is carried out in several stages. First, vaccines are intended for 1.5 million health workers.

Then, in the second stage, COVID-19 vaccination is for the elderly group and public service workers. The target is 21.5 million elderly and 16.9 million public officers. This program lasts until May.

They are market traders, educators, religious leaders and counselors, representatives of the people, officials, government, civil servants, TNI-Polri, tourism officers, public services, public transportation workers, athletes, and media workers.

Furthermore, vaccination will be carried out for 63.9 million vulnerable people or people living in areas with high risk of infection. Then, other communities as many as 77.7 million people. This program will be carried out from April 2021 to March 2022.
