JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria opened his voice about the land dispute between Pertamina and residents which led to clashes on Jalan Pancoran Buntu II, Pancoran, South Jakarta.

Riza said that the land that was the object of the dispute was an area of land belonging to the state-owned company Pertamina. However, the land has been occupied by local residents for decades.

"Pertamina wants to use it, take advantage of it, but the people have lived there for decades," said Riza at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Thursday, March 18.

Riza asked everyone to respect the land ownership status of Pertamina. However, on the other hand, he wants to pay attention to the human aspect, namely the condition of the residents who have occupied the land for a long time.

Therefore, Riza said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government would mediate between residents and Pertamina. The plan is for residents to be moved to a place to live in another location.

"Let us find a joint solution so that Pertamina can close the place for the benefit of the community at large. And people who have lived there for years will get a new housing solution," he explained.

Previously, the clash took place at Pancoran Buntu, the Pasar Minggu route on Wednesday, February 24. The clash was caught on video by netizens who recently spread on social media.

The incident caused a number of people to be injured. Reportedly, the clash involved residents with mass organizations and the police.

Backed to July 2020. At that time the residents of Gang Buntu II were forcibly evicted by PT Pertamina Persero. Residents were forced to move out of the 4.8 hectare land, which has been inhabited by 2,000 people since 20 years ago. However, PT Pertamina claimed the land belonged to them.

For the residents, the eviction was flawed in legal procedures. Residents do not accept being evicted from the land that is still in dispute. They know very well that evictions cannot be carried out before a court decision is made. In addition, residents also reported a lot of intimidation and terror they experienced.
