MRT Receives IDR 10 Billion Grant From US Government

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) received a grant worth US $ 709,630 or equivalent to Rp. 10 billion from the United States (US) government.

The granting of this grant is given for a feasibility study on the proposed new renewable energy initiative from the US government through the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).

The distribution of this grant was followed up by the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi during a working visit (Kunker) to Washington DC, United States (US), some time ago.

"I emphasize that the grant funds are around Rp. 10 billion, not in the form of money and the calculation is the exchange rate of 2023 dollars. However, it has been paid by the USTDA," said Prasetyo in his statement, Thursday, July 4.

Prasetyo emphasized that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and MRT as DKI BUMDs must show a strong commitment to use new and renewable energy in MRT operations.

This is necessary to reduce dependence on energy from fossils as well as to continue to decrease.

On the one hand, the DKI DPRD will also ask for a comprehensive explanation of the system or use of solar panels on the roofs of stations and depots to encourage energy efficiency. So, it can save electricity usage.
