Facing Bobby Nasution, PDIP Promotes Nikson Nababan Cadre In The 2024 North Sumatra Gubernatorial Election

Deputy Chairperson of the North Sumatra PDIP DPD Aswan Jaya revealed that the "golden ticket" for North Sumatra governor candidates in the 2024 North Sumatra Governor and Deputy Governor Election (Pilgub) was prioritized for PDIP cadres.

The two figures who are in the spotlight will receive support from PDIP for the 2024 North Sumatra gubernatorial election are the 2018-2023 North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi and former North Tapanuli Regent Nikson Nababan. Edy is known not to be a PDIP cadre while Nikson is the chairman of the North Tapanuli (Taput) PDIP DPC.

"Pak Nikson is a PDIP cadre and Chairman of the PDIP DPC Taput. With this reference, his chances are enormous," said Aswan, Tuesday, July 2.

Aswan also emphasized that the priority of cadres to get a golden ticket does not only apply to the 2024 North Sumatra gubernatorial election, but also for the 2024 Pilkada in general, including the election of regents and mayors.

"Political coalitions are also important, it is not fun if we move alone. This Golden Ticket allows PDIP not to rush into determining the candidate for governor of North Sumatra," he added.

Nikson Nababan, on the same occasion, believes that PDIP still assesses performance and work programs other than personal figures.

"My belief is that the assessment based only on the figure is no longer relevant. This will only disappoint the party, as in the past," he said.

"I ask for the blessing of the people of North Sumatra to run as a candidate for governor of North Sumatra. Let's avoid money politics, don't sell our pride for political purposes alone," concluded Nikson.

In a podcast in Medan, Nikson Nababan, who is also the regent of Taput for two periods, highlighted his achievements in reducing poverty and improving infrastructure in North Tapanuli.

"We have succeeded in reducing poverty and unemployment rates in Taput. We have opened road infrastructure between villages to connect isolated communities," he said.

"We succeeded in eliminating extortion practices. Positions rose, appointment of school principals, were all done without extortion. We will adopt this success to build North Sumatra," he added.

It is known, apart from Edy Rahmayadi, other names mentioned to be running in the 2024 North Sumatra gubernatorial election are the Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution. The last names have obtained support from Golkar, Gerindra, Nasdem, Hanura, and PAN.
