Online Gambling Candidates, Money Filler Officer Desperately Breaks Into ATM Machine Content Of IDR 1.1 Billion

As a result of addiction to playing online gambling, an officer filling an automated teller machine (ATM) in Batam City, Riau Islands had to deal with the authorities.

A man named Taufik Setiawan was arrested for stealing Rp 1.1 billion from several ATM machines belonging to a state-owned bank. The stolen money by the perpetrators was used to buy vehicles to make fun of them.

The theft action could run smoothly because the perpetrator served as an investigator at the management company filling in and repairing the ATM. The company's suspicions arose when checking reports of filling in money at six ATM machines carried out by the perpetrators on Sunday," said Kasatreskrim Polresta Barelang, Kompol Moch R Dwi Ramadhanto, Monday, July 1.

As a result, it was found that the suspect committed theft in stages with a total of Rp. 1.1 billion. The mode used by the perpetrators is to target the ATM, which is the first to be filled by the bank and use the key it holds.

"The perpetrators are free to take money at the ATM machine regularly. From one ATM machine, the perpetrator takes around Rp. 100 million to Rp. 250 million," said Ramadhanto.

Meanwhile, the suspect admitted to carrying out the action himself. He said the stolen money was used to buy vehicles to play online gambling.

Until now, the police are still conducting intensive investigations. The perpetrator was charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with a maximum threat of 5 years in prison.
