The Head Of West Sumatra BPBD Examination By The Police For 7 Hours Of Misappropriation Of COVID-19 Funds

PADANG - West Sumatra Police Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) investigators examined the Chief Executive and Treasurer of West Sumatra BPBD for seven hours. The two were investigated in cases of suspected COVID-19 budget misappropriation.

Head of Public Relations of the West Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Satake Bayu, said that the two were examined for 7 hours.

"In total there were 33 questions that were thrown by the investigators to the two of them," he was quoted as saying by Antara, Wednesday, March 17.

Kalaksa and Treasurer BPBD West Sumatra were asked for information regarding the use of the 2020 APBD reallocation for handling COVID-19.

In addition, the West Sumatra Regional Police also asked for a number of documents owned by the West Sumatra BPBD regarding the purchase of equipment related to the use of the COVID-19 budget.

"The process of collecting evidence and information continues to be carried out on this case," continued Kombes Satake Bayu.

Previously, the West Sumatra Regional Police asked two officials for information regarding the alleged misappropriation of the COVID-19 budget from the 2020 APBD budget reallocation funds. The two were Head of Rehabilitation of the West Sumatra BPBD, Suryadi and members of the West Sumatra DPRD Nofrizon.

"We collect information first to uncover this case," said Kombes Satake Bayu.

Meanwhile the Head of Sub-Directorate for Tipidkor Polda West Sumatra Kompol Agung B said that his party had collected a number of documents from the West Sumatra BPBD and was still waiting for documents in the form of special committee minutes to follow up the findings of LHP BPK related to the COVID-19 budget.

"We have already sent the West Sumatra DPRD Secretary for the document and we are still waiting for it," he said.

He said that in facing this case his party wanted to sort one by one starting from documents, witness testimony and experts ranging from criminal experts to Tipidkor experts.

"We also involve external parties and in every stage of the process we will always conduct court titles," said Kompol Agung.

Regarding the information that the BPBD had returned the state's losses, the police confirmed that Kompol Agung needed proof of the return.

"If we have returned, we ask for proof of return and conduct an evaluation involving criminal experts and experts on Tipidkor. We will stage another case whether this act is sufficient or not the criminal act of corruption," he said.
