Not A Ticket, The Ministry Of Transportation Will Normalize Overloaded Trucks To Deter Them

Bekasi - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Land Transportation (Ditjen Hubdat) held Technical Guidance (Bimtek) to enforce cargo transfer laws and normalize Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) vehicles. The Ministry of Transportation plans to change the sanctions applied to violators of ODOL trucks to create a deterrent effect.

Director of Road Traffic, Suharto, explained that he would no longer ticket overloaded truck offenders. This is because the low ticket fines do not provide a deterrent effect for the offenders.

"Vehicle normalization must be carried out by vehicle owners who change the shape of their vehicle from its original form or according to the vehicle design, this is stated based on the Regulation of the Director General of Land Transportation Number: KP.4294 / AJ.510 / DRJD / 2019 concerning Guidelines for Normalization of Motor Vehicles, Trains. Collaborating, and the Tempelan Train, ”he said in his official statement, Tuesday, March 16.

According to him, for Towards Indonesia Zero ODOL 2023 (MIZO 2023), it needs a lot of innovations to be carried out, including Restoration Justice which can be taken if there are violators with good intentions to repair their vehicle in an officially licensed car body.

Furthermore, Suharto said that in addition to Restoration Justice, innovation was also carried out by transferring loads to vehicles that load more than the carrying capacity based on JBI vehicles by bringing in new vehicles as overloaded vehicles.

"In the Implementation Process of Law Enforcement, ODOL violations require a commitment to cooperation between agencies, including the Road Traffic Directorate, Land Transportation Management Centers, Service Units and Provincial / Regency / City Transportation Offices," he explained.

This activity was carried out from 16 to 17 March 2021 and was attended by 60 participants consisting of employees, South Korean Land Transportation Management Centers (BPTD) throughout Indonesia, as well as Provincial / Regency / City Transportation Offices in the Greater Jakarta Area, Banten, West Java, Java. Central, and East Java.

The speakers for the Technical Guidance on Law Enforcement of Cargo Transfer and Normalization Measures for ODOL Vehicles in 2021 were from the Directorate of Road Transportation Facilities, BARESKRIM POLRI, the Indonesian Karoseri Association (ASKARINDO), and the Secretariat of the Directorate General of Transportation.
