Two Conditions Anies If He Wants To Be Promoted As A Cagub In Jakarta, Become A Cadre Or Choose A Representative From PKS

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has provided two conditions for Anies Baswedan if he wants to be promoted as a candidate for governor in the 2024 Pilkada.

This was revealed by PKS spokesman Muhammad Iqbal after the name of Deputy Chairman of the Syuro Council, Mohamad Sohibul Iman as the future governor of Jakarta 2024.

The first requirement is that Anies can choose to become a PKS cadre. Second, Anies can choose a PKS cadre as his deputy in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.

"PKS gave Anies a choice, to become a cadre or deputy from PKS," Iqbal told reporters, Monday, June 24.

Iqbal explained that his party could not run alone in the Jakarta Pilkada. This is because PKS only has 18 seats in the Jakarta DPRD. Meanwhile, to carry a candidate pair, 22 seats are needed.

If Anies does not run in the Jakarta Pilkada, PKS offers Sohibul Iman to the coalition party. But if Anies already has a supporting party, said Iqbal, Sohibul Iman is ready to be his representative.

"If Mr. Anies is not willing to run (from PKS), Sohibul Iman is prepared as a candidate for governor, if Mr. Anies gets party support (others) and progresses, Sohibul is ready to become a candidate for deputy governor," said Iqbal.

For information, the decision of the PKS DPP to carry Sohibul Iman in the Jakarta gubernatorial election is a follow-up to the proposal of the DKI Jakarta PKS Regional Leadership Council (DPW) to present a number of candidates' names. PKS DPP spokesman Ahmad Mabruri said that Sohibul was chosen because he was considered the best cadre. "As the winning party in Jakarta, PKS decided to fight for its best cadre as a candidate for governor of DKI Jakarta. The candidate we carried was Mohamad Sohibul Iman, who currently serves as Deputy Chair of the PKS Syuro Council," said Mabruri. Sohibul is called Mabruri as a figure with integrity and has qualified capacity. He once led PKS in the 2015-2020 period. "Under his leadership, PKS experienced a significant increase in votes and chairs," he said.
