JAKARTA - The Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah is making efforts so that prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) who will work abroad get a quota for training through the Pre-Employment Card Program.

"Our desire to get an allocation or quota for CPMI has not been fulfilled, and we are promised that the Coordinating Minister for the Economy (Airlangga Hartarto) can make it possible in the second half of 2021," the Minister of Manpower said in a working meeting with Commission IX of the Indonesian Parliament, reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 16.

According to Ida, the Pre-Work Card plan for the second semester of this year is because the program is still a form of social assistance for the COVID-19 pandemic for workers who have been laid off (PHK).

When the opportunity to get the Pre-Work Card was opened to CPMI, said Ida, the overseas work training center (BLKLN) became a private job training institution (LPKS) that would organize training.

Ida also ensured that he had instructed the ranks that the vocational training centers (BLK) under the central government provide training for prospective Indonesian workers who are leaving for overseas.

Ida also highlighted the PMI placement financing scheme, which is planned not to be borne by workers by ensuring that they continue to discuss with the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI).

Regarding the Pre-Employment Card, the Main Secretary (Sestama) of BP2MI Tatang Budie Utama said that he had coordinated with the Implementing Management of the Pre-Employment Card Program. In the midst of a pandemic, said Tatang, online or online training was not very suitable for CPMI.

"But, maybe in the future it needs to be discussed further, because there is a connection with skilling, reskilling and upskilling, it is necessary that CPMI be given trainings," he said.
