Update On COVID-19 As Of March 22: Government Is Sad Because Medical Personnel Are Victims

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for handling the corona virus or COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto (Yuri) said, there were additional cases of positive patients with the COVID-19 virus in Indonesia. As of Sunday, March 22, there were 64 positive patients, bringing the total to 514 people.

"As of today, there have been an additional 64 positive cases, so a total of 514 positive cases have been confirmed," Yuri said in his statement at the BNPB office which was broadcast on Twitter, Sunday, March 22.

Furthermore, there are also additional patients who recovered from COVID-19 after being tested and the results were negative as many as 9 people. The total number of patients recovered to be 29 people.

"However, there were an additional 10 cases who died from the disease. So, a total of 48 people," he said.

Of the number of patients who died, there were a number of medical personnel. Three people, namely neurologist Hadio Ali Khazatsin, surgeon specialist Djoko Judodjoko, and ear nose throat (ENT) specialist Adi Mirsa Putra, died of exposure to COVID-19. Another one, Toni Daniel died from exhaustion while working with COVID-19 patients.

Yuri, representing the government, expressed his concern and condolences at the information. The government, he added, was saddened by the death of medical personnel who had contributed and served their good in dealing with COVID-19.

"We are all sad. We also appreciate the medical personnel for their contribution. The government is sad, and we convey our deepest condolences," he said.
