KPK Endus Indications Of Mining Permit Obrals In The Case Of North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said indications of mining permit games in North Maluku were detected during the process of investigating the alleged bribery and gratuities that ensnared the inactive North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba. They already have the information needed.

"The fact is that in the investigation process there are indications and information that we have obtained," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters quoted on Wednesday, May 5.

Even so, the anti-corruption commission has not yet focused on investigating the mining permit game. Ali said the KPK first resolved allegations of corruption which is currently being tried, namely accepting bribes and gratuities.

"In solving a case we need to focus. The focus right now is on the bribery process," he said.

Ali also said that the facts of the trial that were revealed would also be useful for developing the next case. One of them is the application of the article on money laundering (TPPU).

"The TPPU was born in the context of the KPK's authority, right from corruption. This corruption, of course, is very possible from there (mining permits, ed)," he said.

Previously reported, Abdul Gani Kasuba, who is the inactive Governor of North Maluku, sat as a defendant for allegedly accepting bribes and gratuities for buying and selling positions and infrastructure projects of more than Rp. 100 billion.

KPK prosecutor Rio Vernika Putra said AGK as a state administrator received gratuities of Rp99.8 billion and US$30 thousand via transfer or in cash. He is suspected of using 27 accounts of his own personal secretary, family, or property to make receipts.

In addition, AGK is also suspected of accepting bribes of IDR 2.2 billion. The money is allegedly used for hotel lodging to pay for his personal health needs

The prosecutor also said that the amount of money flowing into 27 accounts held or controlled by Ramadhan Ibrahim as an aide was Rp. 87 billion. Apart from that, AGK also received cash in the form of dollars worth 30 US dollars.
