JAKARTA - The National Police Headquarters stated that 21 social media accounts (medsos) were removed after the virtual police monitored them uploading content indicated to have violated criminal offenses.

Head of Penum for the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, said that the deletion of this account was discovered when the virtual police team was about to send a warning message.

"I explained that 21 content failed to be sent because the account was immediately lost, it was immediately deleted. So it was not yet time to be warned, the content was lost. Hit and run was called, send, lost," said Kombes Ramadhan to reporters, Friday, March 12.

On the other hand, said Ramadhan, around 125 social media accounts were observed to have violated Electronic Transaction Information (ITE). Of that total, 89 accounts have been reprimanded.

Meanwhile, the rest did not receive a warning. The reason is, based on expert information and data, the upload of the account does not fulfill a criminal element.

"This means that the content fulfills hate speech so it fulfills the elements. While 36 content does not pass, it means that it does not lead to hate speech," he said.

For information, the virtual police are a follow-up to the Circular (SE) of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo numbered: SE / 2/11/2021 Concerning Ethical Cultural Awareness to Create a Clean, Healthy and Productive Indonesian Digital Space.

In the SE, the National Police Chief requested that the handling of cases of violations of the ITE Law prioritize restorative justice efforts.
