IRT Asal Nunukan Arrested In Makassar, 200 Grams Of Shabu From Malaysia Confiscated

MAKASSAR - A housewife (IRT) from Nunukan, North Kalimantan, RA (36) was arrested by officers from the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the South Sulawesi Police in Makassar City. The woman was arrested for distributing methamphetamine she got from Malaysia.

Chronology of the arrest, a woman was riding a white minibus crossing Jalan Army Student, Wajo District, Makassar City.

During the arrest, the police found evidence of 200 grams of methamphetamine that was hidden in a black crackle bag.

After being interrogated by officers, the perpetrators, who were arrested without a fight, could only surrender when they were brought together with the evidence to the South Sulawesi Police Headquarters, Perintis Kemerdekaan Street, Tamalanrea District, Makassar City, to undergo further investigation.

Head of Sub-Directorate II of the South Sulawesi Regional Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate, AKBP Fajri Mustafa said the perpetrator was a two-child housewife who was desperate to become a drug courier between provinces under the pretext of slumping economic problems.

"The reason is because of the economic downturn, the dealer tricked this family by luring Rp 20 million in cash," he said, Tuesday, May 28.

It is suspected that the illicit goods came from Malaysia to Indonesia through Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan. The methamphetamine was obtained from a dealer with the initials AS who is still at large.

"As long as the goods or those who order to bring the goods are domiciled or live in Nunukan," he said.

The mode of smuggling methamphetamine is to take advantage of a woman who is caught in economic problems to make one-way shipments.

"Sabu from Tawau Malaysia, then looked for a courier who had an economic downturn," he continued.

Until now, the perpetrator is still undergoing investigation by investigators from the South Sulawesi Regional Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate and is threatened with being charged with Articles on Narcotics with a minimum threat of six years or 20 years in prison.

"The article that we suspect is Article 114 paragraph (2) and Article 112 paragraph (2) with a minimum penalty of six years, a maximum of 20 years in prison," he said.
