SYL Concerning Sacrifice For Personal Interests: That's An Order To All Ministers

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL), stated that the cattle sacrifice at the time of Eid al-Adha using Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) money was not for personal gain. Instead, orders to all ministers.

"The sacrificial title is an order. All ministers, sir, especially the Ministry of Agriculture, must pay their respects because it is under the Minister of Agriculture regarding livestock issues," said SYL during a trial at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday, May 20.

SYL also stated that the order given to him was to sacrifice in an area deemed in need.

"And that is for all of Indonesia, especially in areas that are minus (such as) Papua and so on," he said.

Later, the rebuttal regarding this matter will be clearly conveyed in the plea or memorandum of defense.

"So I want to clarify the title of sacrifice like that. I will answer later," said SYL.

Regarding the sacrifice, the Secretary of the Directorate General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), Hermanto, said that if it was burdened with paying the sacrifices of 12 cows worth Rp. 360 million.

This confession was conveyed when the public prosecutor (JPU) asked Hermanto to explain the chronology of the demand for sacrificial cows, which initially only had three tails.

"Then it changed again, plus three tails, a total of 12 tails. What we only gave was money, what he asked for, but the amount of money was approximately 12," said Hermanto.

"The value is Rp360 million, right?" asked the prosecutor.
