Not Only The Unlawful Killing Case, The National Police Will Investigate The Ownership Of Firearms FPI Troops

JAKARTA - The National Police Headquarters emphasized that they would continue to investigate the possession of firearms (senpi) used by the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) troops during a firefight.

Head of Public Information Bureau, Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, said investigators would follow up on everything related to the KM 50 case.

"It is still being processed. All recommendations from The Indonesian National Human Rights Commission will be studied and followed up by the Police", Rusdi told reporters, Wednesday, March 10.

But Rusdi has not presented the results of the interim developments. He only emphasized that this case is still under investigation.

"Yes, it will continue to be explored later", he said.

Previously, The Chairman of the Indonesian National Human Rights Commission Choirul Anam recommended the Police further investigate the possession of firearms that were allegedly used by FPI troops. This is because of the seven projectiles found by The Indonesian National Human Rights Commission, two of them were identical to non-homemade firearms.

"And four pieces of evidence were suspected of being part of a shell and it was declared that 1 piece of evidence was not part of the cartridge casings and three cartridges were identical to the firearms of police officers", he said.

Meanwhile, The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police previously stated that the two firearms used by the special forces of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) when attacking officers on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road were assembled. This refers to the bagged ballistic test results.

"The results of the ballistics expert's examination stated that the two firearms used by the FPI paramilitary were non-manufactured firearms", said the Director of General Crimes for the National Criminal Investigation Unit, Brigadier General Andi Rian, in his statement, Sunday, December 20.

But regarding the origins of this senpi, Andi cannot clearly explain it. The focus of the investigation is still around use.

"Investigators are more focused on the facts of their use. If the origin is not clear", he said.

The use of firearms was revealed when the police held the reconstruction of the incident. At the first location, precisely on West Karawang International Street, in front of the Novotel Hotel, these irregulars of Rizieq Shihab's guard attacked the police car that had previously been tailing.

Hence the police gave warning shots. Then the four FPI troops members who had previously carried out the attack decided to return to their car. But the two troops who were previously only in the car got out and shot the police car three times.

The police returned the fire. But the two soldiers immediately got back into the Chevrolet car. Then they fled.
