Members Of The Medan Bawaslu Who Were Affected By The Extortion OTT Were Sued For 2 Years In Prison

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) demanded two years in prison for the defendant Azlansyah Hasibuan, an inactive member of the Medan Bawaslu and a partner of Fachmy Wahyudi.

"In addition, the two defendants were charged with a fine of Rp. 50 million, subsidiary to one month in prison," said North Sumatra Prosecutor General Gomgom Halomoan Simbolon at the Medan District Court as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 8.

Gomgom said that in the facts revealed at the trial, the two defendants had fulfilled the criminal element of committing a criminal act Article 11 of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code, as stated in the second indictment.

Gomgom said that the aggravating thing was that the defendant's actions did not support the government's program in eradicating corruption.

Meanwhile, the mitigating factors for the defendant have never been convicted, polite and cooperative have not enjoyed criminal acts and have become the backbone of the family.

Previously, the case was revealed after the North Sumatra Police Illegal Sweeping Team (Saber Pungli) conducted a hand arrest operation (OTT).

A member of the Medan City Bawaslu with the initials AH (32), who is the Coordinator of the Public and Public Participation Prevention and Participation Division, was caught OTT by the Operational Team (Opsnal) of the North Sumatra Police Saber Extortion Group on November 14, 2023 at a hotel in Medan City.
