Fires Of Dozens Of Houses In Cengkareng, 36 Residents Refuge

Dozens of houses and used stalls on Jalan Livestock, RT 7/04, Kapuk Village, Cengkareng District, West Jakarta, were scorched on Tuesday, May 7, at dawn.

The residents reported that the fire occurred at around 04.20 WIB. Residents then reported to the Cengkareng Sector Fire Department post.

Officers deployed 18 fire engines to the fire site with 90 personnel strengthening.

"The situation is now yellowing or cooling. The object of fire is a residence and warehouse for used goods," said Head of West Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Syarifuddin when confirmed, Monday, May 7.

The process of extinguishing the fire was carried out from 04.24 WIB after officers arrived at the location of the fire. Then the fire can be localized and cooled since 06.00 WIB.

"The cause is suspected to be due to an electrical short circuit from one of the buildings. The burned area reaches 616 square meters," he said.

Meanwhile, 13 houses were occupied by 13 families with 36 people. However, officers are still collecting data on the number of houses affected and injured victims.
