GORONTALO - Djalaluddin Airport in Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province is back in operation after being temporarily closed due to the impact of Mount Ruang volcanic ash.
Head of Djalaluddin Airport Gorontalo Joko Harjani, said the airport began operating again after the revocation of notice to airmen (Notam) due to the impact of the eruption of Mount Ruangan.
"We report on Thursday, May 2, 2024, the airport will reopen since 05.00 WITA," Joko said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 2.
He previously revealed that Djalaluddin Airport flight activities were temporarily closed on Tuesday, April 30 until 16.00 WITA but were again extended until early Thursday.
The temporary closure was carried out according to observations of the volcanic ash activity of Mount Ruang, Sitaro Regency, North Sulawesi which affected Djalaluddin Airport.
Before reopening flight activities, a joint team from the airport, Polri, TNI, firefighters and the Regional Disaster Management Agency and other agencies cleaned the runway of Djalaluddin airport in Gorontalo Regency from Mount Ruang volcanic ash.
