Head of Djalaluddin Airport Gorontalo Joko Harjani, said the airport began operating again after the revocation of notice to airmen (Notam) due to the impact of the eruption of Mount Ruangan.

He previously revealed that Djalaluddin Airport flight activities were temporarily closed on Tuesday, April 30 until 16.00 WITA but were again extended until early Thursday.

The temporary closure was carried out according to observations of the volcanic ash activity of Mount Ruang, Sitaro Regency, North Sulawesi which affected Djalaluddin Airport.

Before reopening flight activities, a joint team from the airport, Polri, TNI, firefighters and the Regional Disaster Management Agency and other agencies cleaned the runway of Djalaluddin airport in Gorontalo Regency from Mount Ruang volcanic ash.

Head of Subdivision of Finance and Administration at Djalaluddin Airport, Dody Mano, said that the cleaning of volcanic ash was carried out by spraying water and sweeping.

He explained that volcanic ash cleaning was carried out from Wednesday (1/5) to Thursday (2/5) in the morning on the airport runway with a length of 2,500 meters.
