8 Tourists Drowning In Cinnamon Beach, Padang, 2 Died

Eight tourists from 50 cities drowned while swimming at the Air Manis Beach tourist attraction, South Padang District, Padang City, West Sumatra. Six people survived, two others died.

Eight tourists from 50 cities were reported to have drowned while swimming at the Air Manis Beach tourist attraction, South Padang District, Padang City, Sunday, April 28, 2024.

Local residents who knew about the incident tried to save them. However, two people were not rescued. Both are Mikel Maulana (8) and Alfa Zahfira (12). They were swept away by the current.

"Eight people swim by the current, six people can be rescued by residents, while two people die," said Danru Basarnas Padang, Charly.

On Monday, the joint SAR team conducting a search finally found the victim, 200 meters from the starting point of the drowning victim. Both were found dead.

The two victims who died as soon as they were evacuated and taken to the nearest health center to be handed over to their families.
