Cak Imin Ensures PKB Promotes Strong Candidates Against Khofifah In The East Java Regional Election

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin poked Khofifah Indar Parawansa, for simultaneous regional head elections (Pilkada) in East Java Province (East Java) in November 2024.

Muhaimin conveyed the satire accompanied by a joke when giving a press statement, after meeting with the Acting Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Muhammad Mardiono at the PKB DPP Office, Jakarta, Monday.

"Who is he, the person is still a secret. Later, if it leaks, Khofifah will find out, it's dangerous," said Muhaimin, when asked who the PKB will carry in the East Java Pilkada.

Khofifah is the Governor of East Java for the 2019-2024 period. He has a great opportunity to run again as a candidate for governor for the 2024-2029 period.

The requirement to carry the candidate pair for Governor of East Java is at least 20 percent of the total seats in the East Java DPRD or 24 seats. Khofiah herself has received an assignment letter from the Golkar Party which has 15 seats.

Meanwhile, PKB and PPP agreed to form a coalition in the East Java Pilkada. PKB collected 27 seats in the East Java DPRD for the period 2024-2029, as well as the party that owns the most seats. Then PPP has four seats from the election in the same period.

Previously, Khofifah Indar Parawansa ensured that she would focus on the East Java gubernatorial election.

"It has been since last December, four parties. Gerindra, Golkar, Democrats, PAN, have given assignment letters," said Khofifah.
