Contact Shoot With TNI, 1 KKB Member Killed In Sugapa District, Papua

JAKARTA - Head of Information for Kogabwilhan III Colonel Czi IGN Suriastawa said a member of the armed criminal group (KKB) of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) died during a firefight with the TNI in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua.

The firefight occurred at around 11:52 am local time. At that time, four KKB members made firefight with the Alap-alap 2 team from Yonif Raider 715 / MTL.

"There has been a shootout between Team Alap-Ramp 2 led by Ltd Inf Alif from Yonif Raider 715 / MTL and the KSB group on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 11.52 WIT in Puyagia Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency," said Suriastawa in his written statement. told reporters, Saturday, March 6.

He said the four KKB members were thought to have come from the OPM group led by Undianus Kogoya. When the attack occurred, they were also known to have carried a weapon.

"They were moving from the direction of Kampung Pesiga and were heading towards Kampung Kumbalagupa, Sugapa district, Intan Jaya district, firing contact with the Team from YR 715," he said.

When the shooting incident took place, two of the four members of the KKB were shot by members of the TNI. One person died while the one who was shot managed to escape.

"Another KSB fled with weapons," he said.

On that occasion, Suriastawa said that until now his party did not know the identity of the KKB member who was shot. In fact, local residents admit that they do not know the identity of the KKB members.

"There are no victims from the TNI. Currently the KSB body is being handled with the residents of the Sonetapa Kampunv, Sugapa district, Intan Jaya district," he concluded.
