Anies Goes To Skateboarder 'Enjoy Jakarta', Deputy Governor Riza Affirms The Prohibition Of Playing On The Sidewalk, Ready To Increase Open Space

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria reiterated the ban on skateboarding on the sidewalk. Skateboarders are asked to play in open spaces.

"If you refer to the Law regulations that have a function, sidewalks are for pedestrians. Is not it? For skateboards we have provided in many places. the place is in several places, some are in Kalijodo, Dukuh Atas, under the Slipi flyover, under the Pasar Rebo flyover, in Senayan, in many places, "Deputy Governor Riza told reporters, Friday, March 5.

The locations mentioned by Deputy Governor Riza can be used by Jakarta residents, including skateboarders. Riza emphasized the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's promise that was conveyed by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to add more places to play.

"The governor said that he will add skateboard spots in many places. Of course, our hope is that friends who play, play in their place. If you play on the sidewalk, it will disturb road users, walking users will object if a bicycle enters the sidewalk. If there are skateboarders who enter the sidewalk, especially motorbikes, everything is right, "said Riza.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan reminded skateboarders to take advantage of the existing skatepark. The hope is that Jakarta can be of use to all its citizens.

"Enjoy Jakarta, take advantage of all its facilities, build feelings of friendship and brotherhood, God willing, Jakarta will feel like a city for everyone," said Anies after meeting skateboarder Satria Vijie at the City Hall of DKI Jakarta, Thursday, March 4.

This meeting occurred because in recent days a viral video depicting Satpol PP bickering with a skateboarder on one of Jakarta's sidewalks.

Anies added, there are already many Skate Parks in Jakarta, so he hopes this will be used by skateboarders. "There is an opportunity for friends to interact to make positive activities, to meet friends from many places," he said.

Anies also reminded that every activity outside the home must comply with health protocols, including skateboarding.

"Go on skateboarding, but don't wear a mask, keep your distance. God willing, that way, you can play health and well," he said.
