Indonesian Navy Nunukan Failed To Smuggle Thousands Of Bottles Of Kemiri Oil To Malaysia

NUNUKAN - The Second Fleet Quick Response (SFQR) team of the Indonesian Navy, Nunukan, North Kalimantan (Kaltara) has secured thousands of bottles of oil from the Larosa brand from Surabaya which will be smuggled into Tawau, Malaysia.

The Commander of the Indonesian Navy Base (Danlanal) Nunukan, Marine Lieutenant Colonel (P) Handoyo, explained that the thousands of bottles of palm oil were secured when they were about to be smuggled by a motorist speedboat named Muhammad Rizuan (24), a resident of Aji Kuning Village, Sebatik Tengah District, Nunukan Regency on Tuesday (16/4).

"The speedboat with the hull number Malaysia TW 7318/6/C, is not equipped with official documents. The evidence that we managed to secure was 7,200 bottles, each of which contained 100 bottles of oil and water," said Handoyo, Wednesday, April 17.

Handoyo emphasized that the disclosure of this smuggling was the duty of the Indonesian Navy to maintain the security of Indonesian waters from illegal activities on the border.

"This is the commitment of the Indonesian Navy to protect the country's sovereignty and fight cross-border crimes, besides that this is part of the intensity of marine security patrols after Eid al-Fitr," he said.

Danlanal said that the success of this action was the synergy of Lanal Nunukan and related stakeholders in the working area of Nunukan Regency.

"Furthermore, the evidence and the perpetrators will be submitted to Customs and Excise and Immigration Nunukan for further processing," he said.
