Jokowi: Government Of Intensive Communications With World Leaders Regarding Middle East Situation

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo stated that the government has communicated intensively with world leaders regarding geopolitical activities in the Middle East.

"The government has communicated intensively with world leaders, including the importance of protection for Indonesian citizens (WNI) in conflict areas," said Joko Widodo as stated in the description of the upload on the Instagram account @jokowi as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 16.

Jokowi held a limited meeting together with Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, ministers and related officials at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, specifically to discuss developments in the global situation.

The government said Israeli attacks on Iranian consulates in Damascus, Syria and retaliation or Iran's retaliatory attacks on Israel had caused a spike in oil prices.

The President said that geopoliticals in the Middle East could have an impact on Indonesia.

The limited meeting, said Jokowi, discussed the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts to prevent escalation and maintain regional stability, and reduce the impact of the global economy.

The Head of State said that in addition to communicating with world leaders and trying to maintain the safety of Indonesian citizens in conflict areas, the government also always strengthens competitiveness and long-term investment attractions for Indonesia.
