Post-incidents of clashes between elements of the Indonesian Navy Military Police (Pomal) Lantamal XIV/Sorong with members of Battalion B Pioneer Satbrimob Polda West Papua, West Papua Police ensured that security and public order conditions (kamtibmas) in Sorong City, Southwest Papua Province, were safe and conducive.

This was said by the West Papua Police Chief Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, accompanied by Pangkoarmada-III Sorong, Rear Admiral TNI Hersan along with a number of TNI-Polri officials in a press conference at the Sorong City Police Headquarters, Sunday evening, April 14.

"We are all committed to being able to keep the situation in the Sorong area safe and conducive," said Inspector General of Police Johnny Eddizon.

He said one of the indicators of conducive social security is that community activities continue to run.

The Kapolda also ensured that the incident would be completely resolved.

"Mr. Dansat Brimob and the Head of Propam will step down to explore. We will cooperate with Pomal, fleet intelligence and intelligence at the latest to get a complete picture of everything," said Isir.

Johnny apologized to the TNI-AL ranks for the incident, and hoped that it would not happen again. This is important so that it does not have a negative impact on the synergy between the Police and the TNI in Sorong.

Meanwhile, Rear Admiral TNI Hersan, regretted the incident and supported the legal handling efforts carried out by the West Papua Police.

"Indeed, we really regret this because the solidity that we have maintained so far has been damaged by certain elements. We hope that this will not happen again and we hope that the perpetrators will be given strict action," said Rear Admiral TNI Hersan.

Previously, clashes occurred between a number of personnel from the Indonesian Navy Military Police (Pomal) Lantamal-XIV/Sorong with unscrupulous members of the West Papua Police Satbrimob Battalion-B, Sunday at around 09.30 WIT.

The clash started with a misunderstanding between members of Brimob and members of the TNI-AL Pomal personnel who at that time guarded the entrance to the Pelni Port departure terminal, Sorong. The incident resulted in a fight that spread outside the port area involving a number of members of the Indonesian Navy.
