Former PDIP Politician Maruarar Sirait Will Be Given A Honorary Position In Gerindra

JAKARTA - Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the Gerindra Party, Habiburokhman, said that former Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician Maruarar Sirait would be given an honorable position in the Gerindra Party by the General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto.

This, he said, was because Maruarar Sirait had contributed to the struggle of candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) until he won the contestation.

"I can't get ahead of it. But the tradition is, Pak Prabowo if there are militant cadres, then he also contributes to Pak Prabowo, of course he will be honored to have an honorable position," said Habiburokhman when met at the residence of the daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Jakarta as quoted by Antara, Thursday.

Meanwhile, the daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said he would discuss Maruarar Sirait's position in the Gerindra Party in a special forum later.

"There is a certain forum on that in the party and we will discuss it because there are several other figures who also joined the Gerindra Party," Dasco said when met at his residence on a separate occasion.

Previously, Maruarar Sirait had already taken care of a membership card (KTA) to join the Gerindra Party led by Prabowo Subianto.

"The KTA hasn't yet, of course, it's a process. Of course there are conditions, what, we have to fulfill it," Maruarar told the media crew during a visit to the open house (headhouse) of Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia at his official residence in Kuningan Jakarta, Wednesday (10/4).

Maruarar said he would follow all the requirements or processes to have membership in the party.

"Yes, I will follow the existing rules of the game as a new member, of course I have to be patient, it's a process," he said.

He said that for positions in the party, of course, the initial position was processed as a regular member. He will follow Prabowo's direction for the assignment of activities related to the party.

"It has been explained that I am Pak Prabowo's subordinate," he said.
