Kakorlantas Reveals The Temporary Cause Of Deadly Accident On The Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road

JAKARTA The Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the National Police Inspector General Pol. Aan Suhanan revealed the temporary cause of a deadly accident involving three vehicles at KM 58 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road on Monday, April 8, which killed 12 people.

According to Inspector General of Police. Aan, the Grand Max vehicle is thought to be traveling at speeds above 100 km per hour and is not making any braking efforts when it moves to the right. In addition, the vehicle also carries passengers exceeding the maximum capacity, which affects the balance of the vehicle.

"We are still under investigation regarding the exact cause of this accident using Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA), which takes one to two days to find out the results," said Inspector General Pol. Aan.

Inspector General of Police. Aan explained that the Korlantas Polri team was collecting information from witnesses and recording CCTV footage at the scene. Investigation also involves examining damaged vehicles to obtain accurate information.

"Until now, the owner of Grand Max is still in search based on frame numbers and driver's licenses, and the vehicle has been blocked," he added.

Inspector General of Police. Aan also mentioned that the owner of Grand Max allegedly used the vehicle for public transportation or rental, based on the difference in identified passengers.

This accident involved three vehicles, namely Primajasa Bus, Grand Max, and Daihatsu Terios. The death toll of 12 people was a passenger in a Grand Max car that caught fire at the scene.

Currently, the identified victims will be handed over to the family to be buried. The investigation continues to make a decision in determining the suspect for this accident.
