Accident At Contraflow KM 58 Japek Toll Road: 9 People Died, 2 Seriously Injured

JAKARTA - The accident involved a Grandmax with the Primajasa Bus and the Terios car on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road section. To date, nine people have died in the incident.

Karawang Police Chief AKP Wirdhanto revealed that the nine people who died were passengers in the Grandmax car. Meanwhile, two people were seriously injured.

"Currently, nine people have died and two have been seriously injured. Those who died were from Grandmax and then two were seriously injured from the bus," said Wirdhanto in his statement, Monday, April 8.

Wirdhanto said the Grandmax car located on the contraflow route towards Cikampek had a problem. Then, the car tried to pull over on the shoulder of the right road on lane B leading to Jakarta.

"At that time there was a bus that from the direction of Cikampek could not avoid and crashed and immediately caught fire. Furthermore, there was also one Terios (car) that was affected, hit the bus and also caught fire," he said.

Until now, he said, the process of handling the accident was still being carried out, especially to transport the burning vehicle.

"It is under police handling, for the contraflow route we closed which leads to Cikampek, everything is through the Ambon route. Congestion is being resolved at the TKP and we are currently carrying out TKP processing," he added.
