JAKARTA - Hundreds of travelers to Raas Island, Sumenep Regency, Madura, were finally transported by ship assisted by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) after three days of being abandoned at Janger Port, Situbondo, East Java, Sunday, April 7.

Head of the Class IV Port Authority and Port Authority (KSOP) Situbondo Herlan Aprilyanto said, there were as many as 303 travelers to Raas Island who could be transported using the Ministry of Transportation's assistance ship, namely the State Ship (KN) of the Main Milky Way today.

"Alhamdulillah, today the travelers to Raas Island can be transported using the Ministry of Transportation's navigation ship today, but this is specifically the cargo of people," he told reporters in Situbondo, Sunday, April 7, which was confiscated by Antara.

He detailed that of the 303 passengers who were residents of Raas Island, 85 were child passengers, 15 were toddler passengers and the remaining 203 were adult passengers.

Herlan said that the Bima Sakti Utama State Ship is a navigation ship that is assisted to transport travelers who do not get tickets to the ferry for the Janger-Raas route, due to the limitations of ships operating on the Situbondo-Madura crossing route.

"Because this is a state ship that is seconded to carry travelers, no tickets or free," he said.

One of the travelers to Raas Island, Sumiyati, admitted that she was happy that the government was responsive by bringing in a bridge ship to transport them after three days of being abandoned at Janger Harbor, Situbondo.

"In the future, we hope that the government will increase the departure schedule or the Tier-Raas tri route, so we don't have to wait up to three days at the port," he said.

From observations, a woman who was young pregnant almost fainted and had to get medical treatment because she was tired of waiting in line at the port pier door.

KN Bima Sakti Utama departed from the Anchor Port to Raas Island at around 11:00 WIB by transporting 303 passengers.
