Judicial Commission Ask For KPK Help To Trace The Track Records Of Candidates For Supreme Court Justices

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Judicial Commission (KY) Fajar Nur Dewata has asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to help find candidates for supreme justice with integrity by tracing track records. Tracing is also carried out through the State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN).

This was conveyed by him during an audience with KPK leaders at the KPK Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

"We are going to the KPK in order to cooperate in the recruitment process for Supreme Court judge candidates that we have opened. Where this process will involve sharing information and also various data about these judges," Fajar said in a press conference broadcast on the KPK YouTube account. RI, Thursday, March 4.

Furthermore, cooperation in supervising judges will also be carried out by forming a team. The distribution of supervision is carried out in accordance with the authority of each of these institutions.

Responding to Fajar's statement, KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata said KY would recruit 13 Supreme Court justices and the agency was asked to trace the track records of those who registered. As for the mechanism, the anti-graft commission will get the names of candidates after they have passed the administration.

"The names will be submitted after passing the administration. Regarding, for example, whether the prospective judge complies with the LHKPN reporting, whether the judge's assets match the profile of the financial transactions concerned," he explained.

"The point is that KY wants the future judge candidates who will be elected truly have integrity. If it is a matter of technical ability, if the prospective judge is a career judge, there is no doubt," he added.

Meanwhile, regarding the supervision of judges, said Alex, the KPK would certainly synergize with KY to do so. The anti-graft commission, he continued, will also monitor the trial in conducting surveillance.

"From there we will also be able to monitor the judge concerned to lead the trial. If there is anything related to the code of ethics, we will submit it to KY and if KY receives public reports and there are indications of corruption, it will be submitted to the KPK," he concluded.
