4 Ministers Called At The Constitutional Court Session, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Admits No Directions

JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin said there was no specific direction to the four ministers who were summoned by the Constitutional Court (MK). The summons is related to the trial of disputes over the results of the general election (PHPU) or disputes over the results of the 2024 presidential election.

"I don't think there is any direction, because they have carried out their duties according to their functions, with their main duties and they have mastered, know the problem. So there is no need for directions, because they already know what they are running. I don't think there is a problem," he said in Tangerang, Banten, Tuesday, April 2.

The vice president admitted that he had no problem with the four ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet being summoned by the Constitutional Court. He also considered the summons for the sake of the trial.

The four ministers in question are Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, and Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini. In addition, the Constitutional Court will also summon the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP).

"So maybe the Constitutional Court needs more explanation, because there is an explanation (the name of the minister) at the Constitutional Court. I think for us there is no problem because that's an explanation," he said.

The vice president is of the opinion that the Constitutional Court needs an explanation from related parties to prove the dispute over the 2024 presidential election so that the summons is a constitutional obligation. He also assessed that the summons of ministers and other parties was so that the Constitutional Court could make decisions based on accountability and professionalism.

"The problem is, what will there be a trial for the Constitutional Court, what will decide, what is this, is it. That will be after the ministers are also asked for an explanation, of course the situation will be clearer later," said the Vice President.

It is known that the Constitutional Court has scheduled the summons of four ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet to testify at the PHPU proof hearing or dispute over the results of the 2024 presidential election, Friday, April 5.

The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Suhartoyo, stated that this summons was not based on requests from related parties, but as part of an objective trial. He also said that eight constitutional judges had decided in a panel of judges (RPH) to summon four ministers to attend the 2024 presidential election dispute trial.

"This is solely for the benefit of the judges. In simple language, we actually reject the petitioners' petition, but we take a separate stance because the positions of the judges choosing these parties are seen as important to be heard in court which will hopefully be heard on Friday, April 5, 2024," he said at the Constitutional Court building, Jakarta, Monday.

Suhartoyo also emphasized that only constitutional judges will ask the four ministers when they provide information at the hearing to prove the 2024 presidential election dispute on Friday. The reason is that the four ministers were asked for information for the benefit of the court.
