Concern About Information Existing Members Of The DKI Jakarta DPRD Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - Members of the DKI DPRD must cancel several meeting activities today, because one member is conducting self-isolation related to the corona virus (COVID-19).

The meeting included an agenda to discuss changes to Regional Regulation Number 15 of 2020 concerning Street Lighting, draft regional levies, Commission B meeting on food anticipation ahead of Ramadan, as well as a Commission E meeting on anticipating the transmission of the corona virus.

"The meeting (Commission B) is canceled because there is a member suspected of having COVID-19," said DKI DPRD Commission B member Gilbert Simanjuntak when contacted by VOI, Monday, March 16.

Gilbert said, the DPRD member was in self-isolation but was not hospitalized. The person only rested at home after carrying out lab tests.

On that basis, some other DPRD members agreed to isolate themselves until an undetermined time. Moreover, during a working visit (kunker) to Pekanbaru some time ago, a number of members of the DKI DPRD interacted with the members suspected of being infected.

"We are still waiting for the laboratory results. If the results are negative, we can enter immediately. But, if it is positive, it could be two weeks for us to isolate ourselves," he said.

On a separate occasion, Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Zita Anjani, said that the DPRD leadership continued to monitor the reports of the teams working in the field. He said that the cancellation of a number of DPRD member meetings was in accordance with the appeal of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan regarding the handling of COVID-19 in Jakarta.

"What is clear, we continue to follow developments. We want to avoid the risk of transmission, so we better work from home. Cancellation of the meeting agenda because following the governor's invitation to work from home, social distancing," said Zita.

Regarding the issue of members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD who suspect corona, Zita said the issue had developed. He leaves it to the institution which has the authority to make a statement.

"The question is that there are suspects, there must be a measured test, we cannot just talk. If there are issues that are suspected of being members of the DPRD, there are already developing. But, I want it to be tested. The truth is we are waiting for the examination, depending on the willingness of the concerned and family if it is clear, "he added.
