Coordinating Ministry For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Godok Plans For The Development Of The Universal Defense System At IKN

The Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polhukam) is working on planning to build a universal defense system in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

There are several laws that are studied to serve as guidelines, including Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital, Presidential Regulation Number 63 of 2022 concerning the Main Details of the Capital City of the Archipelago.

"The transfer of the state capital from Jakarta to the archipelago will have major implications for the aspect of national defense. The need from the defense side is very crucial and fundamental considering that the National Capital City is the center of the country's gravity which greatly determines the sustainability and existence of the Republic of Indonesia," said Deputy IV for State Defense Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Rear Admiral TNI Kisdiyanto quoting Antara.

During the meeting, Kisdiyanto said that throughout 2023, the coordination series carried out by the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs regarding the universal defense system in IKN resulted in the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Defense Number: KEP/1746/M/XII/2023 concerning the Main Plan for the Development of the State Defense System in the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN).

"Based on the defense minister's decision, the state defense system that must be realized in IKN is a universal defense system, (and equipped with an active defensive system, red), and a smart layered defense strategy, and arranged according to the denial antiaccess/area defense system," Kisdiyanto said.

Antiaccess/denal area (A2/AD) is simply an area defense system whose focus is on warding off attacks from outside whose range of attack is far or from close range.

Not only discussing the A2/AD defense pattern, the coordination meeting also discussed the use of technology based on artificial intelligence (smart defense system) for the universe defense system at IKN.

"IKN comes with the concept of a smart city or smart city that integrates networks and information technology in urban development. The use of technology is the key so that this needs to be a common concern in guarding the realization of the state defense system at IKN," said Kisdiyanto.

The capital city of Nusantara, which will replace Jakarta, was built in two districts in East Kalimantan Province, namely Penajam Paser Utara and Kutai Kartanegara.

IKN is also located close to the Indonesian Archipelago Sea Lane (ALKI) II, which is open waters and becomes a crossover for ships, including commercial ships from within and outside the country.
