Gilang Wrapped In Jarik Cloth Fetish Sentenced To 5.5 Years In Prison

Gilang Aprilian Nugraha Pratama or Gilang “B Wrap”, known in the “jarik cloth fetish” case, was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison.

SURABAYA - Defendant Gilang Aprilian Nugraha Pratama or Gilang “B Wrap”, known in the “fetish cloth jarik” case, was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison. Gilang B Wrap was proven to have committed violence and obscene acts.

"Sentenced the defendant Gilang Aprilian Nugraha Pratama to imprisonment, for 5 years and 6 months," said the head of the panel of judges Khusaini when reading the verdict, in Tirta I Room, Surabaya District Court quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 3.

In the verdict of the panel of judges, the defendant Gilang was proven to have violated three articles, namely Article 45 paragraph (4) in conjunction with Article 27 paragraph (4) of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE).

Then Article 82 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 76E of Law Number 17 of 2016 in conjunction with Law Number 35 of 2014 in conjunction with Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, and Article 289 of the Criminal Code.

Apart from the prison sentence, the defendant Gilang was also required to pay a fine of IDR 50 million.

"With the provision that if the fine is not paid, it is replaced by imprisonment for 3 months," said the panel of judges.

Regarding this decision, Gilang, through his legal adviser, Bambang Soegiarto, has not yet expressed his attitude or just thinking about it.

"Thinking about the panel," said Bambang after coordinating with the defendant.

The same thing was also said by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) Yusuf Akbra from the Tanjung Perak Prosecutor's Office. "Think noble," he said.

The verdict was lighter than the prosecutor's demands, who previously demanded a prison sentence of 8 years, a fine of IDR 50 million, a subsidiary of 6 months imprisonment.

This case stems from the posting of victim W who is Gilang's younger brother. Feeling harassed, W then uploaded a screen shoot of his conversation with Gilang.

Under the guise of research, the defendant, who was then in the 10th semester of FIB Unair, ordered W to cover his body and his friend using a cloth.

After the bodies of W and his colleagues were wrapped, Gilang ordered one of them to record the body that had been wrapped using a cellphone.

It turned out that W and his colleague had just realized that he had become a victim of sexual harassment "fetish cloth jarik" which made Gilang feel aroused when he saw someone's body wrapped in a batik-patterned cloth resembling a pocong.

After going viral on social media, police from the ranks of the East Java Regional Police and the Surabaya City Police and the Kapuas Police hunted down the suspect and were successfully secured at his residence on Jalan Cilik Riwut, Selat Dalam, Kapuas Strait, Central Kalimantan.
