SIGI - President Joko Widodo said that rice harvest in Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) could reach 6.2 tons per hectare and give appreciation for this achievement.

"I want to see a large harvest in Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi Province and I see a good result," President Joko Widodo while reviewing the rice harvest in Pandere Village, Gumbasa District, Sigi Regency, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 27.

The President stated that rice farming products, especially in Sigi Regency, could reach 6.2 tons per hectare with the direction of the Minister of Agriculture, immediately implement a mechanism to accelerate replanting after harvest.

"Per hectares can be six to 6.2 tons per hectare, meaning it is good but this by the Minister of Agriculture is encouraged to accelerate replanting so that after it is harvested the soil is processed directly with tractors and existing machines," he said.

According to Jokowi, the completion of the rehabilitation and reconstruction process of irrigation networks in the area can optimize an area of 8,180 hectares of rice fields and increase the agricultural index to reach 300 percent.

"I hope that the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Gumbasa irrigation area will increase our agricultural productivity, support food security and sovereignty and improve the welfare of farmers," said the president.
