German Chancellor Congratulates Prabowo

JAKARTA - German Federal Republic Chancellor Olaf Scholz congratulated Prabowo Subianto, after being announced to have won the 2024 presidential election.

"I congratulate you on your success in the general election for the upcoming President of the Republic of Indonesia," Scholz said in a congratulatory statement to Prabowo, as stated by the German Embassy in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Friday, March 22.

Scholz alluded to the close friendship that Indonesia and Germany have.

"I welcome the opportunity to develop our strategic partnership further in maintaining peace and security based on international law, in improving economic relations, as well as in our joint commitment to overcoming the climate crisis," he said.

He also expressed hope that Prabowo would be able to carry out his duties in leading the next Indonesian government.

KPU in KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 declared Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2024-2029 with 96,214,691 votes.

Meanwhile, the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair received 40,971,906 votes, followed by the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pair with 27,040,878 votes so that the total valid ballots, according to the KPU, amounted to 164,227,475 votes.

Prabowo-Gibran is superior in 36 provinces, while Anies-Muhaimin has won the biggest votes in two provinces. Meanwhile, Ganjar-Mahfud did not win a single province.
