Sandiaga Remains At PPP Even Though The Party Did Not Pass To The DPR

JAKARTA - Sandiaga Uno stated that he would remain in the United Development Party (PPP) even though the party bearing the Kaaba symbol did not pass the parliamentary threshold (PT) of 4 percent.

"God willing, Istiqomah, I will remain at PPP. As of today, I hold membership," said the chairman of the PPP Election Winning Body (Bappilu) at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, March 22.

Sandiaga said there would be further steps regarding the failure of the PPP to Senayan. However, he said, his official statement would be delivered directly by Plt Chairman of PPP Mardiono.

"I am again asked not to comment, it will be handled by the general chairman directly and I would like to convey a message to remain calm and optimistic because the next steps will be sought," said Sandiaga.

In the national recapitulation, the 2024 legislative elections (pileg) have been completed. Based on manual calculations, there were 8 political parties that won votes above 4 percent, so they passed the parliament, while PPP did not reach 4 percent.

Based on Article 414 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, it is stated that the requirement for political parties to pass parliament is to meet the parliamentary threshold, namely a minimum of 4 percent of national votes.

PPP votes nationally, namely 5,878,777 votes or equivalent to 3.87 percent of the national valid votes amounted to 151,796,630 votes.
